Location
Share where you are in outgoing email when you want recipients to see it, and open a map when a received message includes a position.
Share location in messages
By default, location is not added to emails. In Settings → Location, turn on Share Location to include your coordinates in outgoing message headers. Recipients can see those coordinates, including people on the internet.
Location source
Use Current Location (on by default) uses the device GPS when available. Turn it off to enter a Grid Square manually instead.
Maps on received mail
When a message includes location data, an icon appears next to the sender. Tap it to open a map.
- A blue circular icon means GPS-sourced coordinates.
- A grey circular icon means manually entered coordinates.
- A square icon means a grid-square location (neighborhood-level precision).
Position reports
