Compose

Write a message, address it to a station or an internet email address, and save a draft if you are not ready to send. RadioMail uses the system Contacts app. There is no separate address book in the app.

Addressing

A Winlink address is a callsign plus @winlink.org, for example K2BQJ@winlink.org. In To or Cc, you can type the callsign alone and omit @winlink.org.

You can also address tactical addresses (for example EOC12 or TAC3) and ordinary internet email addresses. Type the full internet address, or pick it from Contacts.

Looking up recipients

While typing in To or Cc, matching contacts appear. Prefer @winlink.org addresses when a contact has more than one email.

Selecting a Contact List adds every address in the list. This is especially useful for groups you message regularly.

Tap the plus button on To or Cc to open the contact picker.

From and tactical addresses

From lists your primary callsign and in-service tactical addresses. In Settings → Account, turn In Service off to keep a tactical address saved without offering it in compose or fetch.

Drafts

Tap Cancel while composing. Choose to save a draft or discard the message. Saved drafts appear in Drafts, where you can open them later to finish and send.

Signature

In Settings → Messages, you can append a signature to new mail, replies, and forwards (up to 255 characters).

Position reports

Touch and hold Compose, then choose Position Report. A map opens with your location and an optional comment. Choose Send Now or Hold for Radio. RadioMail queues a normal Outbox message to QTH with the subject POSITION REPORT.

Your position will then be published to the APRS network and visible online at aprs.fi.

Peer-to-peer only

While composing, tap Cc, From: and turn on Deliver only when peer-to-peer. See Sending and receiving email.
